Centerville is located on the south side of Cape Cod and is one of the seven villages in the Town of Barnstable. Centerville is primarily residential, and includes a small business district. It is known for its miles of sweeping beaches on Nantucket Sound, notably famous Craigville and Covell’s Beaches, with clam shacks located conveniently across the street.
One can easily walk historic Centerville Village for all the charm that living in a real New England village has to offer. Centerville has its own public library, and is home to the Centerville Historic District, and the Centerville Historical Museum. The Centerville Historic District encompasses the heart of the village of Centerville and includes 40 historically significant buildings dating to the 19th century or earlier, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its oldest building, the Austin Bearse House, was built c. 1690.
However, if the lakefront life is for you, then Wequaquet Lake is a spectacular location to own a property. A warmwater lake located located northwest of Hyannis, Wequaquet Lake drains south via the Centerville River which flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Its 7.5 miles of shoreline is heavily developed with waterfront cottages and year-round homes. Bearse Pond is connected to Wequaquet Lake by a narrow channel. Other nearby ponds include Hathaways Pond and Shallow Pond.
